Mustill House and Store

Built in the l850’s, at Lock 15, operated for years by Fred Mustill, selling groceries to the neighborhood and to people traveling on the Ohio Canal.

Myrtle

Also called common trailing periwinkle (Vinca minor) Dark green ground cover with periwinkle blue flowers in the spring. Found around trees and near Lock 15 in front of the Mustill Store.

Nail

The first nail factory in Ohio opened in l8l8 in Akron. The iron nails, partly made by hand, sold for 25 cents per pound.

Nicotiana

A genus of American and Asiatic herbs or shrubs, family Solanaceae, having sticky foliage and tubular flowers. A sweet smelling annual flower that blooms and releases its scent late in the afternoon and evening.
